API 610 Pump Types (OH / BB / VS)

OH Type (Overhung)

Single-stage pumps with the impeller mounted on the end of a cantilevered shaft. Compact and versatile, they are ideal for a wide range of general process services with moderate pressures.

Primary Applications: Refinery light hydrocarbons, intermediate distillates, hot oil circulation; various process fluids in chemical plants; water supply and general transfer services.

BB Type (Between Bearings)

Multi-stage or high-pressure single-stage pumps where the impeller(s) are located between two radial bearings. This design provides exceptional stability and is the preferred choice for high-pressure, high-temperature, or high-duty cycle applications like boiler feed or pipeline transfer.
